ArcGIS is a software package that consists of software product geographic information system (GIS) which is produced by Esri.
ArcGIS includes a Windows-based software as follows:
ArcReader, which allows users to ask questions that are created using other ArcGIS products;
ArcGIS Desktop, has three levels of license:
ArcView, which allows users to view spatial data, create layered maps, as well as perform basic spatial analysis;
ArcEditor, ArcView has the ability as well as with additional equipment to manipulate dab shapefile file geodatabase;
ArcInfo, ArcEditor have the ability as an additional function of data manipulation, editing, and analysis.
There is also a server-based ArcGIS products, as well as ArcGIS products for PDAs. Extensions can be purchased separately to enhance the functionality of ArcGIS.
